Spiritually Gifted to Serve
Date: 2/5/06
Text: Ephesians 4:7-16
Title: Spiritually Gifted to Serve
- The Book of Ephesians
- The Apostle Paul is writing to the church in the city of Ephesus.
- This book talks to the church as people, as a body and family, and as Christ incarnate
- Using your gifts
- If you are saved and you are not suing your gift(s) to serve, then your gift is not being used in full service
- God is not expecting us to do anything on His program without gifting us
- God will be glorified when we are spiritually gifted and serving
NOTES: Jesus did our time in Hell.
- What is the MINISTRY?
- The ministry is winning souls to Christ
NOTES: No one is gifted for their own edification.NOTES: To be the person that God wants you to be, sometimes you will have to go without.My Personal Notes:This sermon let me know that I need to work for the Lord. I shouldn’t be looking for anyone to praise me for doing what God has called me to do. God will glorify me. it is hard to do work sometimes when no human acknowledges that you are working. That’s a very hard one for me.
My Personal Prayer:Lord, help me to use the gifts that you have given me to glorify You. Thank You for the gifts that You have trusted me with. Help me to not look for human praise.
Scripture: Ephesians 4:7-167: But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
8: Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9: (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10: He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
11: And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12: For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15: But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
